We e-mailed Brynley's mom, Rachelle, and asked her to tell us more about the quilt.

She tells us, "I had a very specific color scheme in mind when I was choosing the fabrics and patterns and spent hours and hours in various quilt shops around the city looking for the perfect combination. I used a vintage looking floral fabric, a green seer sucker stripe, large red polka dot, pink gingham and a pink and green paisley fabric."

What’s great is, she let’s us know there’s hope yet for the quilting virgin, "Before I really got into sewing I thought that I would never make a quilt. I am just now discovering how fun and rewarding it can be. Before I started I read a lot of articles and tutorials out there to help me get an idea of what I wanted."

For those of you who do quilt, Rachelle tells us how she finished it:

"To connect the layers I first laid out the sheet, then put the batting on and laid out the quilt top. I just smoothed out the 3 layers and put lots of safety pins in to hold it together and straight. I then did Machine Quilting for the first time! It sounds intimidating, but all I did was follow the lines of the quilt piecing. Starting on one side and rolling up the completed side as I went. Finally I did the quilt binding, with double fold bias tape. It was my first attempt at doing something like this and it was far from perfect, and had to be picked out many times, but from a distance it looks great and it holds the quilt together securely. Overall this quilt took me a week, working on it an hour or two each day."
