Flickr Find: Chalkboard Clipboard DIY

041409-chalkboardclipboard.jpg Rosemary Travale is an illustrator from Hamilton, Ontario. She loves beards, pirates, comics and most of all, making fabulous things! We came across this great clipboard she embellished with some left over chalkboard paint and instantly fell in love with the idea. Click through to see how she did it!

041409-chalkboardchipboard2.jpg We've followed Rosemary's work over the years and she's always been that person who did clever that always left us thinking, "How awesome! Why didn't we think of that!" This cute little project is no different and she was kind enough to share it with us all.

Rosemary started with a blank clipboard (they are usually very inexpensive from big box and office supply stores) and painted the basic figure with chalkboard paint. She then painted over the top of it with acryla gouache to make the hair and tshirt permanent additions to the board.

041409-chalkboardclipboard3.jpg Once dry, the face can be customized in any way she see's fit. You can see some of her first doodles on her new project above. Even when the tshirt or hair is drawn on with chalk, Rosemary tells us that it still wipes off clean in the end.

It's a great project and could be done at home if you had the right supplies lying around! Although, secretly we're hoping to see them in Rosemary's Etsy Store sooner rather than later!

Thanks Rosemary!
