Thursday Giveaway: Messenger Bag by Ellie Bellie Kids

2008-03-12-ellie bellie1.jpg

Remember Ellie Bellie Kids' Superhero Capes? Well now your kid can be Superman and Clark Kent (or Lois Lane, of course) with a hip, little messenger bag. You've got enough to tote around so why not let them carry their own books from the library or their own suit and towel to the YMCA? They'll love feeling independent and your back will thank you.

2008-03-13-ellie bellie2.jpg

The messenger bags strike the right note - cute, but not cutesy. They're also durable and, thank goodness, can be washed in your machine. The strap is adjustable for kids of different heights (and those growing like weeds) and there's an interior pocket so the inside doesn't become one big jumble of stuff. The bag closes with velcro to make things easy for kids on the go. Available in Sporty Stripe (Blue, Jet or Mocha) and Loopy Loops (Pink), the Ellie Bellie Kids Messenger Bag retails for $32 and is recommended for kids 3 and older.

Lucky us, we've got a messenger bag - the Sporty Stripe Blue (pictured above left) - to give away to one lucky reader's kid. To enter to win, leave us a comment below before Monday 3/17 at noon EST, telling us what your kid would tote around in a messenger bag. We'll choose a winner randomly.

Check out Ellie Bellie Kids where you can also find a selection of Superhero Capes and Tutus in six colors.

Well, let's see. Yesterday it would have been: his stuffed monkey (the bla bla one) named Fuzzy, a box of Triscuits, all the change from his piggy bank, and a picture of me and his daddy. (He was running away). He put it all in a mesh bag, but it would have made for a much more stylish getaway in one of these messenger bags. (And don't worry, he came back to the kitchen after not too long, realizing there would be no one to tuck him in.) Most days, stuff in the bag would be notebooks and writing implements, and a variety of things collected while out and about (acorns, rocks, leaves etc.). And usually some tiny stretchy robots who are his constant companions.

On a serious level my 4 year old daughter is OBSESSED with purses and bags. That would be great except the poor little thing has my narrow shoulders so the straps are always slipping off of her shoulders and it becomes a battle to get her to hold your hand in a crowded place when she has a backpack or bag on. This would save the battle and fill her need for a stylish bag!

She would fill her bag with...
1) lipgloss because that is her other obsession (thanks Bonnie Bell)
2) Vtech Smile handheld game
3) At least 1 Princess book (usually 2)
4) 1-2 Princess dolls
5) Coloring book & crayons
6) About 1,000 stickers to share with the world
7) Bottle of water
8) Snacks
9) Sunglasses
10) All of my change and the money she always manages to get people to give her just because she is cute (seriously this kid is a cash cow!)

Depending on the day it might be more but rarely ever less. At some point because of the handholding in crowds rule I end up having to carry the bag and to be honest, while I do love Tinkerbell I don't really feel the need to sport her on a backpack at my age! This bag could really be the answer to my prayers. :-)

Oh, that's easy.

My 3 1/2 year old son would put his wand in his bag. This a very special wand that right now spends most of its time in his belt loop. This wand is not only a magical tool, but is magical itself. In the blink of an eye, this wand can change into whatever it S needs at the moment. It can be a sword for Sir S, or a 'pewer' (as in pew, pew, pew with my ray gun) for Super Hero S. The wand has also lent its services as a raft for bears stranded on a sinking sofa ship. The wand can become a firehose for Fireman S, or a snake that will slither up the legs of big sister. And of course, the wand is frequently used by Wizard S in his adventures.

I suppose you could say that my son would put his imagination in his bag, but no bag is that big.
