Good Questions: Seeking Rug/Playmat in Ooba Nest Ad

2008-05-07-ooba.jpg

Lisa writes: Hi there, can you pleeease help me source the floor pad/play mat from this photo of the Ooba bassinet in the May issue of I.D. magazine (page 72)?

It seems that the Skip Hop Playspot is the only modern play mat on the market. I have one that I love in the babies room, but have been looking everywhere for something solid colored, but still modern and nicer than some of those interlocking floor mats you see online.

The pad in this photo is exactly what I've been dreaming of. Any ideas where it comes from or where I could find something similar?

We can totally relate to the frustration of pining for a prop in a photo shoot and wondering what it is and how to get it. And, Lisa, we searched high and low to find this rug for you, but no dice. We can tell you that this photo has been in use for at least two years so it's possible the rug has come and gone.

We're hoping a reader can come to the rescue? If not, you may try contacting Ooba for help.

Here is a company that sells interlocking mats in individual colors. It won't look as good as what is pictured, but it will be cleaner than the busy multi-colored alphabet mats.

This looks more like (but not exactly like) Flor carpet tiles to me than a playmat. Flor might work for you if you like this look.

I love that playmat. It would make a great alternative to an area rug in a living room.

These were designed by Paola Lenti. They have a Velcro edge attachment/modularity. Not sure where they can be ordered, I would go the Paola Lenti site and check for resellers:

you can order Paola Lenti products through Luminaire or Unicahome among other places, but we forewarned, their products are EXPENSIVE!

whoa, pricey. i think the FLOR morning coffee in decaf looks almost the same (though not as cushy):
