Apartment Swap Service Geared Toward Families?
Good Questions

swap081209.jpgQ: My family is going abroad for the academic year starting next fall while my husband & I take our sabbaticals. I've heard of apartment swap services, but was wondering if there are any that cater to families. We have a 4-yr-old son (who will be 5 when we go away) and we would like to find an apt. that is appropriately outfitted (and would like another family to be able to use all of our child gear). Can you recommend a website or company?

I would try sabbaticalhomes.com. It's basically for academics who go on sabbatical or on other kinds of research trips but a lot of the people who post have child friendly homes.

Great question. In my 10 years experience running InventedCity, we have found about 60% of our homes welcome children and are set up and equipped accordingly. I don't know of a site specifically for families, but given the huge popularity of swapping especially among families with young kids -- I'm sure you'll have ample partners to swap with on a general site. Our site (http://www.invented-city.com) for example allows you to search for 'children welcome" in our Advanced Search. And, when perusing our newest listings area -- those homes unsuitable for young kids are noted with an icon. Good luck!
