Good Question: Moderno Rocker

Ali sent us an email: "There's a really cool looking rocking chair called 'Moderno Rocker.' I believe a picture of it was on a blog called Daddy Drama. I have not been able to figure out where in the world this rocker can be purchased. I even e-mailed the daddy drama dude. Wondering if you had special internet abilities that would allow you to track it down more efficiently."

Good question, Ali! This interesting, modern rocker (also known as the Lepo Moderno L-66) was designed by Yrjö Kukkkapuro back in 1959 as part of the Moderno series. It was previously carried by Babygeared and Sparkability, but is now a hard find. All of our searches took us to Russia!

Does anyone have any leads on where to find the Moderno Rocker, or if you have one, do you recommend it? Is it a yay or a nay?

Let me shout it from the rooftops:
a HUGE, unconditional, YAY!!!!
Hie thee hence and procure thee one!

It is my very favourite seat in the house (very comfortable!), and absolutely fabulous for breastfeeding (just lay the boppy in front across the arms). It is firm, but not hard, and wide enough to cuddle two children.

The only warning I have for you is that it has a rather modest rocking motion; however, my children find it very soothing, and it never fails to send them off to sleep.

I ordered mine directly from Lepo, in Finland, it was much, much cheaper than the price on the sites that used to sell it. They sent me a complete fabric chart of their standard fabrics in the mail too. Just send them an email and they will get back to you. I actually had them use a Designer's Guild fabric (there are outletes all over Finland, and they purchased it), so that is an avenue you may wish to explore.

Babygeared.com has serious customer service issues. Currently, babygeared.com has an unsatisfactory record with the Atlanta BBB. Consumers probably want to consider this prior to shopping with Babygeared.com. They will take your order, and your money, but you will never receive your merchandise. :-)

We are researching these issues with the BBB, as the information reported in these claims is inaccurate.

We were very disheartened to see that just anyone can slander a person or business on the internet leaving no recourse and that such activity can tarnish what has been a good reputation for 7 years with thousands of satisfied customers.
