Q: We have an 800 sq. ft. historic home and it is tricky to find furniture that doesn't overwhelm our space. When we went looking for cribs we were shocked that although they all took a standard crib-sized mattress most of them were huge (and ugly!) pieces of furniture. I started thinking, "What do Europeans do?" But there is no Ikea anywhere near us. After much surfing I found this website...
...and the Olivia crib at Walmart - hooray!!! So I am turning to you for advice again.
My 2 year-old now wants to sit next to me when we read stories before bed, and our rocking chair is too small. It has been hard to find a comfy chair with enough seating space but without the big overstuffed arms that just waste space. I found the Nurseryworks Storytime chair, but it is too expensive for us and sounds like it's not particularly comfortable. Can you suggest something else that might fit the bill?

Editor:We used a photo of the Palms Chair by Vioski to accompany which seems perfect - a wide seat but relatively slim profile - unfortunately, we are not sure of the cost...but our guess is that it is high.
Please share your suggestions and recommendations with Erin in the comments below....thanks!

EQ3.com, urbanoutfitters.com -- even roomstogo.com has some nice, affordable options.
If you are looking for a chair with NO arms, this one would be awesome for a kid's room -- and it's under $400. Nice!

The Palms Chair is about $2800-- not including the optional ottoman, which I would also want. Oh well ;-)

I think the Low Platform Corner Chair from Pottery Barn would work nicely.
You might consider other furniture meant for the outdoors, like gliders. They are on sale this time of year too!
CB2's Mellow Armless Chair might be an idea also.

Storytime rocker is VERY comfortable we got ours on sale for 40-50% off (searched on line with the added word "sale") and shipping was free. Still pricey but the kids will fit next to us for years.
