Good Questions: Affordable Shadow Casting Light?

03staregg_rect540.jpgElaine sent in an email: Since you posted the Star Egg Nightlight a question has come to mind: where can I find a similar light for a reasonable price? I'm not just looking for another egg-shaped light, but I love the idea of the shadows a cut-out piece like this would create in my child's room. The shape could be anything and I'm open to various themes.

I have the egg light (or my twins do, I guess) and love it! But for their first birthday the each received sleep turtles from "sleep sheep and friends". These are great, too, and shut off after a certain amount of time: http://cloudb.stores.yahoo.net/ongo1.html
I think they are around $25-$30 or so...

We have the Knubbig lamp from Ikea. It creates beautiful patterns/shadows on the wall depending on the design/color of lamp you choose.

We also have the turtle that projects stars onto the ceiling. My 20 month old loves it. It turns off after about 45 minutes. Not quite as sleek as the egg, but very inexpensive and a bit more cuddly I would say.

Thanks for the suggestions! The turtle looks like it makes beautiful projections onto the walls, but the light itself isn't very pretty. The Knubbig lamp is also nice, but not exactly a projection light. Maybe this will be a DIY project for me. Something like this: http://www.designboom.com/tools/WPro/images/12j/ch3.jpg .
