Good Questions: Affordable Solid Color Round Rug?

rug012009.jpgLeigh sent us an email:

I would LOVE to find a round, wool area rug for our baby's nursery. It's in the tiny second room of our 950 s.f. home, so five feet or smaller is ideal. We bought a few pieces of the MiGi Splash collection (although not all of it), and the Splash window valances appear to be the focal point now. I also ordered the Anthropologie Dream Menagerie rug (shown at left), which I love, but I'm having second thoughts and may cancel the order....

It seems a little too eclectic and I don't think it will go with the valances (see attached photo). Accents you can't see in the picture include red, yellow and orange, in artwork that has not been installed yet.

So, I am looking for an affordable, solid color, round, wool area rug. I think green (lime, grass, avocado or sage) will work best, but I'm open to orange or yellow, too. I definitely want it to be round and solid in color.

Please add your rug suggestions for Leigh to the comments below...thanks!

I remember looking for a circle rug about a year or so ago and JCpenney.com and homedecorators.com both had solid colored round rugs at pretty affordable prices.

thos ikea round rugs, really shed a lot, just a word of warning.
i love ikea, but for the rugs, only the very expensive ones are good, imo. i was sick of having to de-shed them everyday

Our (cheap) wool IKEA area rug shed everyday for YEARS. Never again. Not even our flokati shed as much.

Oooh, don't send back the Anthropologie rug!! Of course, the final decision depends on the rest of the room decor and your personal likes but I thought I'd chime in with my opinion. I love that Dream Menagerie rug for my daughter's room and have been hoping it would go on sale. I finally bought Anthropologie's Mantadia rug in ivory on sale, thus ending an 18-month search for the perfect rug. The Mantadia is also a bit eclectic and colorful but it does a great job of anchoring the room and highlighting all the colors in my daughter's room (pink, lime and orange). It makes me so happy to go into her room. Anyway, it took me this long because I'm admittedly picky but I also want quality and good looks for an affordable price. I had searched online and at countless stores, at one point buying an Ikea rug (one of the $20 area rugs) but it just looked cheap so I took it back. I don't know what your valance looks like or how busy the room is, but I think the Menagerie rug would add a unique touch that will definitely be a focal point while injecting different colors in other parts of the room. Sorry I was so long winded. I hope it helps. Good luck with your search!

Urban Outfitters has some neat, smaller rugs:

And I am not really a fan of the Olsens in real life or anything -- but Mary-Kate and Ashley have a line of rugs at Target that are pretty darn cute and affordable!

(I can't speak to the quality of any of these options, but online they look great.)

Good luck!

P.S.
Meant to say that on the Target web site, under Rugs, you can also sort by shape to just focus on the round ones.
