Good Questions: Framing Nursery Art

2007.07.27.nursery.amy.ross.goat.magnolia.jpgGhislaine has a question for us all: I have been buying Tiny Showcase and Etsy prints to use in my nursery. I love them, but am at a loss for how to frame them. I have 6 prints, and will probably buy a few more - I need framing and display advice! The room's walls are pale green, the furniture is white, and the centerpiece of my small collection are two Amy Ross prints.

The only thing we love more than affordable art is affordable framing! Below, two of our favorite framing ideas, and hopefully readers will chime in with more suggestions.

10"x10" wood frame (pictured right). We have used these to great effect with some Tiny Showcase prints. The mat brings the frameable area down to 5"x5", and the plain black frame and white mat lets the art pop. A row of these would turn your prints into a gallery. And at $15.39, you can frame as many as you want without guilt!

Floating frames. If the wall color is pretty, floating frames turn it into the mat for your art. A dark frame and floating glass makes small prints really pop.

AT readers, how would you frame a collection of art in the 4"x6" range to really show it off?

I love the Ribba collection at Ikea. If the prints aren't a standard size to fit in the mat, I get a custom mat cut which is a lot cheaper than having a custom frame made.

I have framed many tiny showcase prints using 10x10 wood frames that I bought on ebay (including the Amy Ross prints). However, because the prints all differ in dimensions, I get them custom matted. This has worked great for me. Because the frames are all the same size, I can swap prints in and out in an arrangement, if the mood strikes me.

I second Ribba from Ikea! I have a few pieces in T's room framed in Ribba frames. Quick and easy.

My favorite fame place is actually Kohls! They are ALWAYS on sale, and do have quite a few options.
