Monika asked us: Do you know of places where I could find some fun hats for my baby boy? It seems as if everyone does girl hats (and I have lots of those from my daughter), but there is little beyond baseball caps for boys (and where do you get nice well-fitting baseball caps, come to think?).
Years ago, a friend assembled a set of ethnic caps and hats for her sons that she found at flea markets and used clothing stores, but I haven't had much luck. Do you know where I could look?
(Thanks, Monika.)
Dear Monika:
We were excited to read your email. We horde hats for our baby boy. He's got hats like most women have shoes. Besides being necessary to warm his bald head and shade his eyes from the sun, he looks great in hats! Since his birth we have purchased hats whenever we saw a good one. That's the trick - if you see something you like, buy it. Depending on the season, adjust the size you buy for wear now or later.
The one pictured is from the Baby Gap with sizes from 0 to 24 months - great for spring. It has a back flap to shield the tender skin at the back of the neck. Old Navy is another great source. We've also had a lot of luck at H&M (especially during the winter), and lately, at Janie and Jack for simple, large brimmed cotton hats.
As for baseball caps, we picked up a beautifully sized Red Sox cap at a Logan airport store a few months ago. They do make them! This site offers customized baby caps.
Anyone else have a favorite source to share with Monika?
Etsy seller Heating and Cooling (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=62420) makes cute unisex caps and accepts custom orders.

Zutano! My favorite site so far for Zutano goods is comfykid: http://www.comfykid.com/cgi-bin/ck-shop.cgi?func=show_group&brands_id=8&groups_id=41 They have lots of cute patterns that would be appropriate for boys in their sunhats and beanies.

We are addicted to hats for our lil guy...the funnier the better. We do all gap, old navy, zutano, some vintage (but his head is a lil big for those sometimes) and another great one is San Diego Hat Co. they have great fun unique hats from birth on up.
During the summer Gymboree, and Gap have coordinating sun protective ones with spf t-shirts and trunks at. They also had the lil strap so the lil guys can't remove them.
