I think you are off to a great start with the pieces you have so far.
I would definitely paint the walls. I like that green block on his quilt and would chose a color close to that, maybe a shade lighter.
Then I'd push his bed up lengthwise against the wall and add more pillows to create a daybed sort of look.
And add a rug.
And some lamps instead of using overhead lighting.
I think it's going to look great! I love the dinosaur theme.

I agree that you should paint. We just did a horizontal stripe at picture level of a contrasting color and it looks amazing! The stripe is about 2' wide.
I also agree that you should put the bed against the wall like a day bed, you could put a dresser or bookshelf at the end to keep it cozy.
The wall decals will be great with maybe some colorful pictures like the stool on the wall.
Also a guitar neck hanger to showcase that beautiful acoustic!!
We also decided to double up 2 colors of sheers for the window to keep privacy but allow light through. It definitely adds to the coziness. We initially wanted Roman Shades or a roller shade from Ikea but we have odd windows.
I can't wait to see the afters!!!

i would paint the walls... i like the green in the comforter like others have suggested.
adding fabric to the room will cozy it up... you could hang curtains... as long as you know your little guy wont try to climb them!
and what about making an upholstered headboard in one of the colors from the comforter? there are tons of posts on diy upholstered headboards on this site if you need a tutorial!
a rug by the bed would look nice too... and i like the daybed idea mentioned above!
definitly hang those decals to bring some color on the walls too!

Get a copy of this out-of-print book (there are lots of inexpensive used copies):
http://www.amazon.com/Childrens-Spaces-Zero-Judith-Wilson/dp/1841721611/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1237318667&sr=8-1
It's the best book for providing inspiration for putting together kids rooms that I have ever found, and there are some ideas in there that would work great in your space.
One way to make the room cozier is to make the bed cozier -- push it against the wall, and get a day bed. The ideal one would be an old pine Louis Philippe day bed -- here is sort of what I mean, but this one is cherry, and so more formal:

It would be great some pillows, and you can just see a little boy building a fort on it :-)
I think there is an illustration of one in the book I referred you to.
Aim for different textures, for combining new with old, old antique pine, with white melamine, and so forth.
Definitely paint the walls -- last week I recommended DKC-45 (Donald Kaufman Color) to someone, and I think it would work well in your space too. It is a colour that in some light looks like the faintest of grass stains (makes me think of boys!), while other times it looks yellow. It's amazing! (it glows in sunlight...).
Depending on how thick the pile of your wall-to-wall is, you may be able to lay an area rug down which will another layer of colour and texture.
Good luck!

thank you all for the wonderful helpful ideas! I am definitely going to try the day bed idea and the head board idea is great too! How do I raise the bed though?

Depends on the bed frame. If it has four posts you can buy those raisers at Bed Bath & Beyond. If it's one block, you'll need a higher boxspring or set it on another block or something similar.

Zeeshan,
I agree with what the other posters have said. I think those were all great ideas! If I may ask, where did you get that bedding set from? My 3 year old LOVES dinosaurs and this looks like a set that would grow well with him.

Put up some of his artwork and family photos. You can buy inexpensive frames at michaels, and for his artwork, I would definitely use a mat in the frame because it helps to make it look better but it also holds the paper flat. You have the furniture, but you just need the accessories now.

I would add a 16 inch band of red paint around the room, the top of the band being 16 inches from the ceiling.
I recommend making a headboard that just mounts on the wall. You can use some simple wood and paint it with chalkboard paint. Write his name on it in chalk.
Add a toy chest to the foot of his bed. He can store his dinos in it and add some of the fun wall decals to the top of it.
Add a hanging lamp in the corner area where the blue basket is sitting. Hanging lamps don't take up any floor space for him playing and he won't ever trip on it.
I second the idea of a rug as well.
