Katy is looking for some advice:
So I had asked a question about my alphabet cards before. I have found a great lamp (shown, left), but I am at a loss for shades.
I am planning on spray painting it a different color, which I am not sure of quite yet. What size is right? Shape? I know nothing about buying lampshades!!!!! Please help.

If you're looking for something colorful or patterned, PB teen usually has a good selection: http://www.pbteen.com/shop/lighting/lamp-shades/index.cfm?cm_type=gnav

My mom always said shopping for a lamp shade without the lamp is like shopping for a hat without a head. You should just take the lamp with you to the store and try them out. I have that exact lamp and have been meaning the buy a shade for it too.

That saying makes sense. I have gone around to different shops, but I don't know what will look good on it. I could always buy a few.

I recently bought that same owl lamp base for my son's room who is due in early february. The nursery colors are chocolate brown, aqua, & orange. After searching a lot online, I went with the "Light Years Lamp Shade" from Land of Nod:

The shade is 9" high and 9.5". It fits perfect with the owl lamp base. And for only $14.95, I thought it was a good price. It comes in a couple of different colors.

Urban Outfitters has some really great shades. The are very affordable, and usually there are a bunch on sale.

I got the lamp from Urban outfitters like ericttnger had posted. I saw it on Color Splash on HGTV and fell in love with it.
They spray painted it gold, which I normally would not go for but it showed the detail which is barely visible in the ivory/white color that it comes in.
