Good Questions: Looking for a Simpler Jumperoo

jumperoo111408.jpgKaty sent in a good question: I want to get a jumperoo/johnny jumper/etc. for my baby but I'd prefer one that doesn't have a bunch of ugly crap attached AND doesn't require that it be attached to the door frame...

...Any ideas?

Has anyone seen a simpler version of a Jumperoo type toy? Please let Katy know in the comments - thanks!

not exactly beautiful, but simpler than the one in that shot http://comfortfirst.com/p-42876-jolly-jumper-baby-exerciser-with-stand.aspx and even simpler if you can hang in the doorway, but it sounds like you can't.

Good luck finding a "simple" jumperoo. I hate all the junk attached to those kinds of toys but I lived with it -- part of the point of a jumperoo is to give you hands-free time, and you get more of it if there are little activities for your baby to play with. It's a trade-off. And the jumperoo phase is relatively short. Maybe you could find one on Craigslist that is a few years old (and therefore has fewer toys attached)?

Also, are you sure your baby is a jumperoo baby? We never bought one because our son wailed and screamed every time he tried our neighbor's. That's one good way to avoid junky-looking baby accessories! Okay, so it doesn't work every time, but it might work in this case.

Seriously, reconsider a doorway jumper. It takes up little space, is super stable, is cheaper, and is far less offensive looking than other models. A jumperoo will *not* take the place of an activity center.

Our son LOVED the jumper and we took it all over the place, including in checked luggage.

If you do get a doorway model get this the bumper jumper from Graco. It is much, much better than the others on the market all of which are hideous and squeek.

I don't know if anyone told you, but the "toy" part of the jumparoo pictured comes off...it's just attached with velcro strips! My daughter had the exact one and loved it! Also, craigslist is a great idea...that's where I bought mine from and am now selling it!
