A good question from Carrie: Oh, how I wish I had a picture for this one! I know you like questions with pictures. But if I had a picture, I wouldn't need your help!
Any suggestions for where to find a solid orange bedspread? Not a comforter -- too bulky for a brand-new big boy bed that's pushed against a wall on one side and has a bed rail on the other...
Not anything that reverses to pink. Not anything that is burnt umber or pumpkin or rust or any other purports-to-be-orange-but-isn't. Just an orange bedspread!
At this point, I'd consider any bedspread that was predominantly bright orange but also had other colors (again, though, not pink). Can you please help make my son's new big boy bed look the way he wants it?
Thanks a million!
We found the not-too-bulky quilt (shown above) in solid, bright orange at the Company Store). One problem? It's silk, and therefore, pretty pricey even for the twin size, $179.
We're hoping readers can come through with some more affordable alternatives...
Have you considered buying two orange flat sheets and making a duvet for a thin quilt/beadspread?

JC Penney has this bedspread in orange but I'm not sure it's the right shade of orange?

JC Penney has one - it's cheap ($18) but it's polyester

I know you are looking for plain orange, but there is duvet from Ikea that is orange and white w/2 patterns. The smallest size is a Full/Queen so you might need to make some alterations.

Do you have a Gordman's? They have solid colored comforters, and I think they have Orange. I have a plum colored one from there. It's not the highest quality, but it's usually only $40 or less.
I think this might be it, I found it on Flickr from a fellow Etsyer's pics - you could convo her too??

Domestications or Brylane Home may have what you need. I know Domestications has some regular orange throw blankets that sound like what you want. They both have a lot of bright colored bedding items for decent prices. I got our unusual color sheets & comforter from them for really cheap and were a perfect match to the rest of the room (featured in the Declan's Delight nursery tour below). Good luck!

Ikea also has a crib blanket, but I am not sure how long that would work for you. Is he in a toddler bed or a twin sized?

Carrie here. Thanks a million for your help so far! The Company Store quilt featured in this post is lovely, but I don't know that a silk bedspread is right for a two-year-old. :)
Megan in AZ and LaneC, I actually ordered that JCPenney bedspread. It was a nice weight, not too bulky, but it was kind of a University of Texas burnt orange -- not the right call for a toddler's room. (At least not this toddler. We're Jayhawks, after all...)
I love, love, LOVE the Ikea bedspread. The link from kpag let me select a twin-size option, but it did not let me order it online. I am about ten hours from the nearest Ikea, so that is a real heartbreaker. That is PERFECT! *Sigh.*
We do have a Gordman's, so I'll check that out -- thanks, Thats Swell. I'm also going to scope out what Domestications and Brylane Home have to offer. I hadn't heard of either before, so even if they don't work out for this, it will be nice to have new sources for home goodies. Thanks, cerise518.
Enamorada's idea is a good one, but I lack sewing skills in a major way. Maybe if I can't figure anything else out, I could start hunting for a seamstress.
Of course, I'd love to hear other ideas, too! Thanks again!

If you love the Ikea bedspread I would call the nearest one and see if they would ship that, you never know!

Stupid Ikea won't ship anything to me. I tried two stores, one in Texas and one in Illinois. Now I am going to have to think of people I know in Ikea-fied cities who are saintly enough to brave Ikea for a bedspread to send to me...

There are a couple of quilts from Garnet Hill that you may want to look at: 1) Vortex Quilt in Tangerine, $148 for the twin, 2) Square Route Quilt in red with orange reverse.
