Good Questions: Replacement Pad for Evenflo Highchair?

evenflo031609.jpg
The readers at gearheadmom.com were stumped, so we're giving it a go here on Ohdeedoh. We got this email from Missy of gearheadmom. She writes: OK, so one of my readers sent me a question and I was stumped. I posted it and my readers were apparently stumped, so I figured I’d turn to YOUR readers to see if they can un-stump...

Here’s a question from reader John and I have to admit I’m stumped, so I’m putting it to you, oh fabulous readers:

My wife and I bought an Evenflo high chair before my 2-year old daughter was born. It wasn’t top of the line, just your average everyday high chair, and it has held together remarkably. It has been used as a climbing device, drum set, bumper car, and pretend drawbridge - and sometimes my daughter even eats in it. My problem, though, is the pad. Again, it still works, it’s still attached, but the translucent cover that makes it easy to clean is long since gone. Torn off bit by bit, all that remains is the cloth part, which is now a bit grungy and hard to clean. Is there any place where I can get a replacement pad? I’ve checked Evenflo’s website and I find nothing. Outside of buying a new high chair, are there covers that you know of? Am I the only one with this problem?

Anyone have any brilliant ideas? Are there any readers who happen to run Etsy shops solely devoted to created groovy high chair replacement covers? Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.

Thanks, Ohdeedohers!

Happy Monday,
Missy W

I don't know if you tired this already and came up with nothing, but it is worth a shot. Good luck!

Call Evenflo with the style and number of your chair, they'll be able to give you a number to call to order a replacement cover. I had to call to do this as well and it wasn't a problem. I ended up switching covers with the one my father-in-law had (for our child) so I didn't order one, but I at least knew it was do-able if I needed it later. I'm not sure if I used the phone number off the web site or from our info that came with the chair.

I've seen washable fabric highchair covers at Babies "R" Us. I know some are intended for wood chairs, but this one is shown on a chair that actually looks like an Evenflo.

Maybe sew your own new cover? We grabbed a couple of second hand high chairs as spares for homes we would be eating at regularly (grandparents and great aunts). I used the old cushion as a template, bought some inexpensive foam, cut it to size and then sewed a new cover for the cushions. I used cotton that could be surface washed -this worked for these chairs because they wouldn't be used daily. If they were for home, then an oilcloth or a nylon fabric that is more washable may have been more suitable. Or make a washable slipcover for the cushion you still have.

There is a great new product called the "Grubby Bubby High Chair Cover" it is a washable cover that fits almost any highchair. It simply goes on, over the top of your existing cover, It covers the whole seat as well as the arms of the chair. so basiscally, the chair itself never needs cleaning, just the tray, which is easy to remove and clean in the sink. It saves me so much time as all you do is rip it off and throw it in the wash once its dirty. I usually get a few days out of one, (love it so much I bought 3) then wash it with my bibs etc. So happy to no longer be cleaning and screapoing of food out of nooks and crannies. Definatley one of those - why didnt someone thisnk of that sooner idea! Not sure if they are in stores, I got mine online from their website www.grubbybubby.com

I have an Evenflo highchair. I just called to order replacement parts. There are a number of choices for a new pad/cover which range in price from $20.75 - $24.55 and a new tray liner is $7. Not to bad to have a virtually new highchair!
