Holly sent us a good question: I’m expecting baby #2 in the spring and I’d love not to morph my son’s dresser back into a changing station. Can you tell me if there are any safe and cheaper alternatives to the lovely Oeuf Changing Station ($212) that sits atop the crib? I cannot possibly pay more for the change station than the crib itself!

There's always the netto cub changer on overstock for $150. Also, the oeuf changer comes up on ebay from time to time. Good luck!

I've been brainstorming ideas for how to make one myself... but I'd love to find a cheap solution that wouldn't require me to break out the tools!

Not as pretty, but much cheaper:

We used a towel on the floor. I've never understood wanting to have a kid high up for a diaper change.

That rail rider thing is quite interesting. That said, we use a portable foam pad that we move from bed to the floor to the couch, depending on the time of day and the circumstances .

We made one ourselves, and it looked exactly like the oeuf, but of course much less expensive. Plus we could paint it any color we wanted (we chose black).
