Good Questions: Speed Racer Themed Bedding

Kizzi writes: We're moving into our first house and leaving behind the Blik covered nursery we created for our now 7 month old son Dex. We want to redo his room around this Speed Racer sign he's obsessed with but I am having trouble finding crib bedding that fits the not-so-babyish color and/or retro style. Any tips?

Hi Kizzi. It sounds like you have the right idea to indulge his love of this sign without necessarily creating a Speed Racer themed room. Kids' tastes are fickle so he may get fixated on something else soon and then you'd be stuck with an homage to a cartoon.

We would suggest first going with the stand-out colors of the sign - blue and red - and then looking for patterns that evoked that retro feel. Below are a few ideas we think could work.

American Rockets ($31 - clearance - act fast).

Loops ($340)

Hey readers, do you have some suggestions for Kizzi?

Maybe a bit "conceptual", but I instantly thought of these tire-track sheets from Pixel Organics: http://www.wilddill.com/item.php?item_id=158
They fit the theme and colors perfectly, without being covered in actual cars.

I think the On the Dot bedding at Land of Nod would be perfect. Sorry, my cut and paste for the link isn't wanting to work.

I saw those Rocket Sheets from Wal-Mart on The Estate of Things Blog too. They are really quite impressive.

I also really love the tire-track sheets idea.
Good Luck on your little boy's room.
