Good Questions: Super Soft Fitted Crib Sheet?

crib041309.jpgAmy is looking for suggestions: My seven month old baby still has a hard time settling down to sleep sometimes. She gets upset and rubs her nose against the sheet so much that it's gotten red and scratched up. Do you or your readers know of a super soft fitted sheet for a crib mattress?

I'd like to find something in cotton if possible and I certainly don't want to break the bank, but I'd be willing to spend some money to make my daughter more comfortable.

Gustav and Max has some super soft sheets. I purchased a couple for my daughter. They have a fluffy, almost fleece quality, to them. Very nice! Wish they made some for my bed.

I got the Chamois sheeting from Potterybarnkids.com. They are incredibly soft and $29.00 a sheet.

They have an ultra-soft velvety texture, but they are polyester if that is an issue for you. It didn't bother me.

We swear by Fleece Baby sheets. Our daughter is super sensitive to clothing and bedding. These sheets are perfect for her. It's our go-to shower present.

Kohlr Baby makes beautifully cozy ultra-fleece fitted crib sheets. We use them year round. They're unbelievably soft and they wick away moisture (handy if your baby is a drooler, like mine is).

Here's a link to their recycled fleece sheets:

http://www.kohlrbaby.com/ecofleececribsheet.php

And here's a link to their regular fleece sheets. Looks like they're having a 2 for 1 sale on these:

They're not cheap, but we get by just fine with two, and we keep our non-fleece sheets on standby in case of accidents. The regularly priced fleece sheets are $36, but those are Canadian dollars, so that comes to, what, about $1.96 US? ;)

I am a big Kate Quinn fan. Like you, I didn't want to break the bank either, but I splurged on the fitted sheet. (We also are going to convert our crib into a toddler bed so that helped justify.) I have one of the regular jersey fitted sheets and one of the sherpa. They are really soft and wash up really well. When you order from her, you get a 10% off of your next order too. http://www.katequinnorganics.com/eshop/cart.php?target=category&category_id=65

Thanks for all of the great suggestions!

KLT - do you know what the Kate Quinn sherpa sheets are made out of? Is it cotton? I'm trying to imagine it as the picture on the website isn't very detailed.

I just checked the label and it is 100% organic cotton (I think everything on the site is). The sherpa fabric is really thick. It feels like the inside of a sweatshirt. It definitely won't wear out. Good luck on your search. Oh, and I love the clothing too -the fabric is awesome.

I just bought two sets of these sheets from Target:
https://www.target.com/gp/detail.html?asin=B000WKPE7M&colid=A2ZAZPMX4PW1&coliid=I2PU7Q51EFL6KE&bckreg=baby
They are fluffy and have a flannel-y texture. I haven't washed them yet, but I bet they get softer with each wash.

Plain old Carters jersey knit 100% cotton sheets are quite soft. They wash and wear well and are cheap. Plus, they are easy to put on. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2619885

I would love to find a fleecy sheet for my toddler but I am not interested in poly or poly blends. Thanks for the link above-- I'll check those out although I don't think I can stomach $40 per sheet.

Polyester doesn't sound good--and it seems like polyester fleece would make static shocks. I got plain white cotton flannel crib sheets at ToysRUs. They are soft like pajamas but still would be cool in summer.

I second the Kate Quinn sheets. Super soft and they seem cozy...my little one is too young to say so but I think she likes them.

If you're crafty at all, you can make one pretty easily.
I got some pretty Michael Miller flannel and just sewed 2 crib sheets for my daughter and 2 smaller ones for her daycare crib.

Pottery Barn Kids have really soft, soft sheets. I buy them whenever I see them on clearance. I think all of the ones I have are organic, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

I made one out of a larger sheet that was cotton, very soft with a high thread count. Having been a queen sheet, washed many times, it has softness newer sheets won't.

My 20 yr old daughter swears by t-shirt fabric sheets. Surely they make those for babies beds? If you put a nice pad under it, should be nice and cozy, soft on babies nose.

Babies should not be put to sleep on their bellies, it has been found to be unsafe.

Target has the Circo brand for $5.99-$7.99 per fitted sheet and I got one for my daughter that is EXACTLY like the Chamois from PBK. I have the Chamois boppy cover, changing table cover, pillow cover, and headrest from PBK, and this sheet from Target was way cheaper and matches perfectly. My daughter loves it!

Organic bamboo velour is super soft and luxurious feeling. A few people on hyenacart.com (homemade items, like etsy but more baby focused) sell them.

Marid22 - thanks for your concern, but my daughter has been rolling onto her stomach for the past few months. Not sure there's a way to stop her!

While I am a big fan of cotton sheeting, even organic, for babies and children, my children are huge fans of the potterybarnkids chamois fitted sheets. They are velvety soft, and we have never had a static problem with them.

Your baby would not be able to hurt her nose as she can with textures like sherpa fleece. Bamboo velour is probably soft too, but I would guess the pile is not as long, which may have an effect wrt to the nose-rubbing.
