Good Questions: What color crib should I buy?

2007-06-28-yellow room.jpg Mercy asked us a question the other day, "I just painted Annabel's new room a sunny yellow, and we finally have room for a crib. What color crib and furniture should I buy that will go with the yellow?"

Dear Mercy,
We love color questions! Here are our thoughts:

First, hopefully you chose a nice warm yellow- some shades of yellow in baby's room have actually been shown to lead to baby crying more.

For the color of Annabel's new crib and any other furniture, we like a gray/taupe- similar to the color of the new Ouef line, but you can't go wrong with a simple white. Using a darker blonde wood would also work if you're yellow is more on the bold side. We don't like the combination of dark woods and sunny yellows- it feels decidedely not modern to us.

You might also want to add an accent color like hot pink to the room.

Good Luck Mercy!

I think a warm honey colored wood crib would compliment sunny yellow walls perfectly.

I would agree with white furniture (or even a slight off-white) to stay modern and up to date while still staying soft enough for a nursery.
