Organic Baby Carrier by Belle

belle-carrier-1.jpgOur criteria for a perfect baby carrier are that it be compact, attractive, ergonomically correct, and sustainably manufactured. The Belle baby carrier appears to hit every mark. We like the sleek, no-frills design, as well as the fact that it comes in several pattern and fabric options, including organic cotton and denim.

belle-carrier-2.jpgThe Belle baby carrier is designed to be ergonomically correct for both you and your baby. According to the website, the carrier "distributes your baby's weight to your hips instead of your back and shoulders, and it positions your baby in a proper, ergonomic position that supports your baby's developing spine."

Our only criticism is that this carrier is only suitable for babies up to 25 lbs. If your babies tend to be big, the Belle will only get you through the first six to eight months. But we could see this being a worthwhile item if your baby is on the smaller side.

$89.95 to $99.95 (depending on fabric option) at Belle Baby Carriers

"...and it positions your baby in a proper, ergonomic position that supports your baby's developing spine."

That's a joke, isn't it?
How can they say something like this while promoting carrying your baby facing outwards, which is all sorts of wrong.

Looks like crap to me, if you want a good baby carrier go for the Ergo Baby Carrier or a wrap (like Storchenmühle or Didymos).

Proper? Ergonomic? From the crotch-carry position?

That is doodoo. Newbies and babies on up to toddlers need to have their spines naturally curved and supported.

150,000 years of proper babywearing, not this Bjorn-led and Bjorn-marketed position of crotch-dangling.

This looks very uncomfortable. We used a Maya wrap baby sling, a mei tei, and a Hotslings pouch. We loved all of them and they were super comfortable. with my first baby I used something like this and it killed my back.

what about the Ergo carrier? That would be a much better alternative.

I was just about to say the same thing as sister morphine and sticky rice mama. I really feel sorry for the kids carried facing forward. poor little souls.

We have an ergo and a bjorn was given to us. My husband used the ergo first, with the infant insert, for almost 2 months. He just recently tried the bjorn and HATED it, wanted to rip it off of himself and he said that was the first and last time he would wear it. The ergo totally spoiled him and he'll never go back. I think that says a LOT. And I also think crotch-dangling and outward facing are not too comfy for the baby either.
He also loves the fact the ergo has the built in hood thing and the bjorn style carriers don't. We were walking around the farmer's market in full sun and I saw his point right away.
