Sibis Heinrich IV Highchair

2007.10.02.nursery.sibishenrichIVa.jpg

We are always on the hunt for a good high chair, and right now, the Sibis Heinrich IV is looking pretty good! Designed by Wolfgang Sirch and Christopher Bitzer, this highchair is made of laminated birch plywood on a powder-coated steel base.

This chair works for kids ranging in age from 6 months to 15 years (the leg divider is removable, for the older kids!), and is height-adjustable. And once the kids are gone, this wouldn't be a bad bar stool!

The Sibis Heinrich IV isn't available for order until the end of this month, and so far we have only see it in European catalogs, where it is listed as retailing at £396.67.

We've just been high chair shopping, and I believe that the high chair above is the same as this one:

It is indeed attractive, but it's actually listed at $1,170.00 on Modern Nursery. I just bought a couch for less than that.

I'm so frustrated as a new parent trying to find well designed toys and children's furniture that don't cost astronomical sums. I hope that someday a parent doesn't have to choose between cheap and ugly plastic objets and their child's future college education.
