As much as we adore paper alphabet prints (and boy do we), this handmade embroidered alphabet has our attention at the moment. The juxtaposition of the simple, modern typography and the traditional handicrafts of embroidery and quilting is really lovely. Interested in making your own?
Karin of Orange Flower Sketchbook created this wonderful piece and has shared instructions and photos on her blog. She uses a rather unique method (involving freezer paper and your printer) to transfer the downloadable alphabet pattern onto fabric which is usually the more time-consuming (and, to our mind, least fun) part of any embroidery project.

On the contrary, I like that it isn't centered; it looks like a book's page. I notices that the last letters are smaller, then I realized it was to finish the alphabet.

This post is funny for me, because I just began drawing the pattern for a huge, illustrated alphabet. Each letter will measure about 15x15cm, and I'll use each time a different embroidery technique. My palette is limited to a few subdued colors, so I hope it will look artsy but fit for a child.

I was looking into a few letterpressed alphabet and number posters for my son's new room. This might be an option instead. Of course, making time to do it is always the problem!
