Good Idea: Felt Cut-Apart Food

2009-06-24-cut apart.jpg

The set of cut apart food we received as a Christmas gift is still a favorite in the house. It's made of wood and comes with a its own wooden knife. But after a few chops, our knife-wielding toddler is always looking to chop more. We can't put the fruit and veggies back together fast enough! Wouldn't it be great if we could make our own?

We found this great tutorial for making your own felt food that can be cut apart. Essentially, take the same pattern you were going to use and leave a larger margin of fabric on one side. After sewing everything up, attach hook and loop velcro and cut away! Check out the detailed instructions and patterns at the American Felt & Craft blog.
