You've checked the Weather Channel -- and yes -- there are a few warm days coming your way, and by golly, camping is how you want to spend them.

Then you wonder if you can with a new baby in tow? It's easier than you think. Take a gander at Sandy and Sarah Weisz's tips on how to camp with an infant. Sandy, Sarah and Ezra recently spent a few days camping at Devil's Lake and share with us some sage words of advice...
• Change all diapers outside the tent
• Bring lots of onesies
• Schedule your hikes after feedings
• Know which hotels are nearby, just in case
• Plan to stop along the way

Camp with an infant, but perhaps not with a toddler! We tried with both this summer and the 2 yr old was running circles in the tent, around the baby in the playpen, both of them laughing hysterically an hour and more after their normal bedtime. =) (we're not giving up forever, just this year!)

I agree....do all the camping you can while they're infants!! It's easier and babies are more versatile than toddlers when it comes to sleeping. I think the hardest stage for camping is when they are just starting to walk: crawling sometimes, wobbly-walking others. I was never able to relax when our son was that age because there were rocks, fire, sticks, etc. EVERYWHERE!!
Now that he's two, it's a little more fun (still a lot of watching and work) but at least he can stay up on his own and enjoy playing with dirt (and not putting it in his mouth), dipping his toes in a stream (and not trying to crawl in) and many other fun things.
One thing is for sure, though: camping outdoors is a great way to bring up a kid to love nature and being in the wilderness!

Do NOT car camp at a busy public camp site. Your neighbors will wake your baby up, your baby will wake your neighbors up, and it'll be a bad scene!
Camping AWAY FROM OTHERS, way out in the woods, is awesome with an infant.

i camp every summer with a bunch of other women, children and infants (no men allowed! it's a women's gathering). the easiest was the year i took only my infant, and left my toddler at grandma's house. we were cosleeping and breastfeeding, so baby only needed dipes, onesies, and a sling. it was great.
(camping with toddlers and preschoolers . . . not so easy, but still fun!)

oh yeah - the noise from other campers, crying babies, toddlers throwing fits and kids playing? it's never been a ploblem, any of the three years we've gone. i mean, they wake me up, but not my kids!
