As a parent of a tot, I see this and think, "Too hard to clean up after major messes." Your tot smears his jelly-dressed fingers on the lower cabinets... Yeah, of course, I dislike the cabinets that came with the house, but they're stupidly easy to clean.

as attractive as this could be with the right fabric (the one pictured does look very nice), all i can think of is how difficult they would be to clean. the kitchen is a place of constant splashes and splatters and it seems like fabric covered cabinets would get dingy fast.

It looks cool as heck though. You could use an oilcloth. I'm putting this in the big house file in my head. Great job!

Yikes. Like the previous posters I look at this and think: impossible to clean. But more than that I worry about dust mites and wonder why I would want to bring them into the kitchen when it's enough trouble keeping them at bay in the rest of the house!

Ugh, all I can think is about the greasy dust that would settle on them. Our beautiful new glass vent hood is easy to clean, but needs it almost daily. Judging from the amount of grease that settles on it I can't imagine what would collect on that (gorgeous!) fabric.

This is a great idea for renters. I've lived in more than one place where wrapping the cabinets would have been infinitely preferable to looking at what was there.

I can't imagine wanting fabric covering my kitchen cabinets (as ugly as mine are). I suppose the oil cloth idea that paperdollsforboys suggested could be a better solution. But an application like this might be better in a laundry room where someone may have cabinets, but there isn't the same kind of mess or fire hazard as in the kitchen.

If you don't cook this is a great idea. Otherwise it would be difficult to clean. I love the fabric though!

Not feeling it. Seems like it would be more trouble than it's worth to try and keep clean. I am sure a renter who is desperate to cover some awful cabinet may be willing to try. But I just can't see how this would stay clean for more than a few days of regular use. Maybe I am just a messy cook. Who knows.

Maybe if you used velcro rather than tacks plus some quick stitches at the corners, you could just rip the covers down occasionally and throw them in the laundry. And if your landlord says anything, you're protecting the wood from your cooking and your kids;)
