J. Caroline Creative is a great source for sewing notions (we're particular fans of the fantastic ribbon selection), but it turns out it's also a great source for design inspiration. Owner, Caroline, transformed these, frankly, ugly nightstands into real eye catchers by decoupaging with fabric.
We know a lot of parents choose a favorite fabric or two to highlight in a nursery or a child's room - often with curtains or bedding. Using fabric instead of paper to decoupage furniture is another way to integrate textile into a room and also a great way to reinvent inexpensive thrift store furniture that you otherwise wouldn't want.
Caroline walks you through her process - from sanding to painting to cutting and decoupaging the fabric - and provides plenty of photos to illustrate. Find her complete how-to here. If you need some fabric inspiration, she has some in her store, to check out.
These are awesome!! Personally I don't have the patience for refinishing old furniture, but the idea of using fabric with decoupage on a smaller scale is brilliant.
