How To: Freshen Up Stuffed Animals

howtocleanstuffedanimals.jpgNo, you are not witnessing a mob hit; this teddy wasn't just whacked. Oh, but he did get what he deserved. He got freshened up!

We all know how musty stuffed animals can become but if you try to wash the smelly offender, his or her owner will most certainly protest. An episode of "Talking Dirty With the Queen of Clean" covered how you can freshen up your child’s critter and make him smell fresh and clean.

Two ways the Queen of Clean recommends is to sprinkle baking soda on the stuffed animal and roll them up in towel, leaving it there over night. Or you can place use cornstarch and a plastic bag. Once they’ve been in the towel or bag sufficient time, just shake the excess power off the toy and you are good to go.

That method works OK for surface smells and such, but if a plushie is seriously smelly from the inside and can't be washed in Bac-Out and sun-dried, then you have to replace the stuffing inside. Any craft store like JoAnn's will have stuffing.

Do you think this would work on children? I know a few smelly ones that could spend some quality time covered in baking soda and wrapped up in a towel.
