How To: Homemade Teething Cookies

2009-01-07-teeth.jpg

A precious kiss between father and baby boy captured on film? Sort of. The real story behind this picture is that our first son was teething and was trying to bite his daddy's cheek! We're now in the teething stage again with baby #2. Beyond the usual teething toys, a cold wash cloth, and an unlucky finger, we were looking for something else he could chew on. A friend shot us an email with this great recipe for homemade teething cookies from Daily Candy.

You'll need to gather the following ingredients:

½ c. oil
2 egg yolks
2 mashed bananas
½ c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. flax seed meal (optional)

Check out Daily Candy for the directions. The recipe yields about a dozen cookies. Happy chewing!

frozen bagels also work! at least for my boy. hes 15mths old now with 16 teeth... teething has been a big problem... the bagels and frozen washcloths helped the most.

Really, sugar? The bananas don't make it sweet enough?

My son loved the Buffalo News classic cinnamon-orange recipe but I used 2 egg yolks instead of the whole egg because of the egg white allergy warnings.
