How To: Make a No-Sew Child's Tent

how-to-teepee.jpgWe seem to be all about the play tents and tipis (and tee pees, too, for that matter) these days, and why not? They're wonderful year-round toys, indoor and out, and they have a magical hideaway quality that speaks to people of all ages. If you've ever wanted to create a custom tent of your very own (or even one for your child), we've found just the easy how-to for you.

how-to-teepee-2.jpgOf course, it's no surprise that these fantastic instructions showed up at the uber-craft blog Sew, Mama, Sew. What's even better is that no sewing is required! Instead, the teepee relies on grommets for its stability. (Having used grommets on projects ourselves, we can vouch for the fact that creating them is quite do-able).

Materials also include bamboo garden posts (available at any garden center), white painter's canvas, craft paint, rubber bands, and ribbon for lacing. We also like the idea of using leather lacing, which you can find at craft stores, instead of ribbon.

As always, there's just something about the DIY route that's very pleasing. If you make one of these teepees at home, please send us pics!

What a fabulous idea - thank you! Making the tent will be the perfect activity as we wait for school to start. All three of my children are excited about making it!

At least they don't have feathers in their hair!

Couldn't a modified shower curtain work for this since they're 71x71"? They're pre grommeted, come in fun styles and even the non PVC ones are easy to clean.
