Play kitchens seem to be a favorite DIY project (see here, for example) and this how-to gives some tips for modifying a table, in this case an old side table, into a compact play stove.
How To: Make a Play Stove from a Side Table
Your first goal should be finding a suitable table to use, preferably one with drawers. As they've done here, you may need to adjust the height to make it kid-friendly. Sanding, priming and painting is next and a chance to get a little creative with color if you like. Making (or buying) knobs and designing the stove top will finish the project.
