How To: Make a Toy Kitchen Out of Cardboard

cardboard-kitchen-1.jpgYou're dying to know how all these pieces of cardboard conspire to become a full play kitchen, aren't you? There's only one way to find out...

Ta-da!

cardboard-kitchen-2.jpgInspired by the $600 Molimo play kitchen, Anna designed and fabricated this wonderful structure from scratch and blogged about the process on her site. In her own words:

This little kitchen unit is built entirely from recycled (as in, salvaged from the dumpster) corrugated cardboard covered in contact paper. No glue, no nails, nothing but clever joining cuts make the kitchen entirely disassemblable so it can be packed flat for moving/storage. The structure is all my own design. (Can you tell I'm pretty proud of this?)

As she should be! Fortunately, Anna's ingenuity is everyone's gain. She's made the full plans available for sale for only $8 in her Etsy shop, forty-two roads.

I made this for my 2 yr old last Christmas-he loves it as do all the other kids who come over.He tried to climb on it so I ended up having to reinforce it with 3 layers of cardboard and now it will stand up to anything! I would definitely recommend this!

lng543- When you say "reinforce it", do you mean that you made every piece 3 layers thick and then covered it with contact paper?
