If you're looking for an inexpensive table to make for your little one, look no further. How about covering a side table with oilcloth? You get something good looking, customizable and easy to clean.

We love this one that Yvonne created. Start off with something like this Ingo side table from IKEA. It's $39.99. Paint the legs and sides if you choose.

Then staple a piece of oilcloth to the surface and you're done! It's great for eating off of and for arts and crafts projects.

We have been using big squares of oilcloth as under-the-highchair mats. What a great idea for using it when she graduates to her own big-girl table.

Oh, how funny! I just did this project on my blog last week, making my own "oilcloth with fabric and clear vinyl... I've had so many compliments on it.

I also did this a few months ago when we moved to a new house. We used the larger Ikea Ingo table that used to be in our kitchen and it has worked out really well. Our friend with power tool cut down the legs to an appropriate height and I found an oilcloth tablecloth still in the packing at the Goodwill. The table sits in our studio/office so our daughter can work alongside the two of us.
