How To: Oversized Hoop "Mobile"

We've seen the humble embroidery hoop serve as nursery decor before, but never on such a large scale. Lino's parents, David and Lorena, took the concept even further by silkscreening animals onto small pieces of fabric using glow-in-the-dark white paint. At night, the creatures serve as "friendly ghosts" who watch over Lino while he sleeps.

The three creatures -- dubbed Manolo el Mono, Leopoldo el León and Pepe el Pez -- were drawn by David (a designer by trade), who then transferred them to selected pieces of patterned fabric for silkscreening. Other hoops sport fabric, minus the animals. The hoops were suspended from the ceiling at different heights.

Wow, that is so cool! What wonderful visual stimulation for any baby. A very lucky baby.

Top marks for creativity! However, as beautiful as it looks, I fear the child may be over-stimulated ...? Plus, I also agree that they will catch a lot of dust!

Love this idea, but am far too lazy to keep up with the dust that would settle on them. Looks amazing, though!

I like it! I might try something similar in my daughter's room. You could probably make something really interesting for grownup rooms, too, if you used more adult patterns/fabrics.

Very cute room, I do agree about the dust, I wouldn't have cut that down to a small area instead of the entire ceiling...I love the chaise in the nursery and who would think that intense yellow would look that good.
