How To: S'meeps

041309-smeeps.jpgWe're going to come right out and say it: we're not so fond of Peeps. And yet come every springtime, they infiltrate our home and seriously overstay their welcome. For weeks, everywhere we go we see their disturbingly blank little eyes staring at us. So perhaps we're happy for all the wrong reasons at the prospect of popping a few of them in the oven and seeing what happens. Even if you don't house such sacrilicious thoughts, this twist on the classic s'more recipe -- spotted over at Serious Eats -- promises to be pretty tasty.

Grace at Serious Eats says that "The s'meeps taste just like s'mores with an extra crunch of sugar and a happy dose of color." The instructions are fairly straightforward: Peeps + chocolate + graham crackers. Place in oven and remove before the Peeps turn into a burnt offering.

If your house, like ours, is full to overflowing with small blank-eyed marshmallow chicks, S'meeps are just one idea. Serious Eats has plenty more here.

My sister hates Peeps, but she would always bite their heads off anyway. The eyes were staring at her.
