New Use for Socks: Planter Cozy

We all have orphan socks, victims of the Bermuda Triangle otherwise known as the washer/dryer (and why is it that it's always the cute ones to lose their partner?), but before you throw them away consider this clever idea.

We spotted this in the March issue of Every Day with Rachel Ray and the idea is from none other than Orla Kiely. Pull socks over the bottoms of planters, jars, bottles, etc. and cut the sock bottom to size. Every Day has used them as planter cozys to make pretty centerpieces, but how about using them to store crayons, markers, marbles, hairclips or other small objects in your kids' rooms or playrooms that need corralling?

These would be cute centerpieces for a garden party - especially if there are kids involved.

This is great! A use for that gallon size Ziplock in my laundry room titled "Wayward Baby Socks." V. cute idea.

Oh my god, those are so cute I almost can't stand it. I'm also reassured by Sarah's comment: I'm not the only crazy person who keeps a bag of stray socks. ;)

Count me in on owning the "bag of stray socks" as well! I just can't get myself to thow out a perfectly good sock so I always hoped the missing one would magically appear. Now I have a real use for them. Thanks!
