Star Wars Themed Birthday Party

starwarsthemedpartyTOP.jpgMy son is turning 5 next month, and we've decided to go with a simple Star Wars-themed party. The cake would be easy, the invitations will feature a scene drawn by my son...but what else? We came across a couple of posts which gives some great ideas for a party that will be -- dare we say it -- out of this world.

A fellow Star Wars fan, Marie of the blog Makes and Takes, created some awesome Jedi robes using plain brown cotton fabric. Her food and games included Yoda sodas and Pin the Lightsaber on a Jedi.

More ideas we found at Tip Junkie's site and included Star Wars Bingo, handing out certificates of Jedi completion training and decorate your own pod racer.

Have you thrown a Star Wars party? What other ideas do you have? Please share!

My twin boys (age 7) are HUGE Star Wars fans. I made two SW cakes for their last birthday; The Cantina from "A New Hope" and Luke and Yoda at Dagobah from "The Empire Strikes Back". Toys make easy, great cake toppers. http://kidoinfo.com/ri/easy-diy-birthday-cakes-just-add-toys/

Our daughter attended a Star Wars birthday party (how come there are no girls in those pictures??). I used my old booby tubes (from breastfeeding days of yore) as a base for her Princess Lea hair. A little heavy, but we made it work.

She beat back all the boys with her lightsabre.
