A Girly Rock n' Roll Teen Room

What? Your room didn't look like this when you were thirteen? With the help of Niche Interiors this young teen's bedroom has a rock n' roll influence (without teen idol or concert posters) whilst still having a sophisticated, girly vibe.

The San Francisco-based interiors firm wasn't accustomed to such a young client, but we're sure they discovered that teens have strong opinions about their space. A client survey form helped them suss out her interests as well as her dislikes ("pastels were a definite no-no!") and the result is a black, white, metallic and hot pink room expressing her love of The Killers band without being too edgy and maintaining some feminine polish.

Niche Interiors has a beautiful portfolio which you can find here (including the room of this teen's 8-year old sister which, believe it or not, is even more elegant. Look under Sea Cliff home.)

Great wallpaper. Similar to what we have in our living room.

it looks like a hotel room. the 8-year-old's room is way better, at least from the little snippets i saw.

I don't have a room like this now in my late 30s.

It is definitely sophisticated for a teen's room, but I see no rock 'n roll.

nothing rock 'n roll or original. For me, it is just a copy of Sarah Richardson's design

not into it for a teenager. cute room! i just don't like pretending like teenagers are grownups.... they don't need anymore of those ideas in their heads.

Brass chandeliers, brocade wallpaper and chartreuse tufted headboards do not scream "rock and roll" to me either!

The room looks nice, a bit hotel-ish, mature for sure.

Yeah, I don't see the rock 'n' roll either. But it is a cute room. Not particularly my taste, but I don't think it's too old for a thirteen year old. It all depends on the kid. As I said, I think it's a matter of taste, not maturity level. I definitely disagree with beia: "i just don't like pretending like teenagers are grownups.... they don't need anymore of those ideas in their heads." What ideas is beia talking about???

Not impressed. Doesn't every teenager want to decorate her/his own bedroom? Isn't finding identity the whole point of growing up? Give the kid a sleek blank canvas and let go.

The only rock n' roll I see here is maybe a hotel room before it's trashed.....but I agree it's not too old for a 13 year old. In fact, it's quite juvenile and girly looking to me. This doesn't strike me as a grown up room at all.

Also, who's to say the kid didn't have a hand in picking some of this out. This may well be her greatest wish for her bedroom.

I see no harm in this at all....except that as a teenager and a girl, she'll be so over it in about six months. :-)

What a fantastic room for a 13-year-old! When I was 13 I would have totally picked a room like this for my mom to recreate so I can imagine how jealous her friends must be!
