A Tree House Picnic

treehouse1.jpg There's still plenty of time for fun outdoor summer activities. Katie and her family took advantage of these remaining summer days and had a picnic in their newly constructed tree house. It looks like it was one special picnic.

Katie shared some of the details with us,

"The branches for the railing were made using the branches we had to remove from the tree. Most of the lumber was "borrowed" from my father-in-law's stash in his barn. The paint was extra from projects on our house. The paper garland in the tree is from Pearl River. The children had brown bag lunches in the treehouse before the cupcakes shown. The idea for the cupcakes was gleaned from an old issue of Martha Stewart kids. My boys decorated the tray with mint and thyme from our yard. I read The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein to the kids while they ate the cupcakes. They then made pine cone bird feeders as a gift to the birds.

The crown Caedmon is wearing was inspired by Amanda Soule's book,
The Creative Family."

It looks like everyone had a great time! Get more inspiration from Katie at her blog here.
