Our baby got his first haircut yesterday and I instinctively kept a lock of hair as a keepsake. It's definitely something we want to keep but what do we with it?

We recalled our post about displaying baby's first clothes and got going on a display project. We took a few photos of baby and his new do and the plan is to frame one of the photos along with the lock of hair mounted and the date. We also like this idea (found on Maya Made) of storing the precious memento in a cute box.
In addition to baby clothes and locks of hair, what other baby mementos and keepsakes do you have and what ideas do you have for keeping or displaying them? Our list includes (or will include):

Ohhh that box is so cute! In some Asian countries, they also have the option of getting the lock of hair made into a Chinese calligraphy brush, as a keepsake! :)

My mother put a lock of hair from my first haircut in a little glassine envelope in my baby book, along with before and after photos.

Tey, calligraphy brush sounds so awesome!
My DD got a first cut last weekend. They gave us a card, that says the she got her 1st haircut here at that day. And there's a place for a lock of hair.
We're keeping her first pair of shoes. Still did not figure out how to display it though. I think keeping a baby tooth is creepy, but ask me in a few years.

Similar to robinm, I have both my girls' hair in archival-safe vellum envelopes and their "first haircut" certs from the store, filed in their respective scrapbooks.

Nudik, perhaps get those "shadow boxes" and place it inside, along with her footprint as a background? You can display it in her room... That's what I'm planning to do (when I have the time that is!).

I put my kids first haircut hair in their baby books and I used a Chloraseptic strips plastic box. They are small and flat and work perfectly in a keepsake box. I made a cute sticker for the front of it, after removing the brand label and it can still be opened and fits a nice little locket perfectly and inexpensively since I had some on hand! You can see it on my flickr acct if you're curious. http://www.flickr.com/photos/24999564@N03/3970164170/

i remember going to a victorian home as a kid. they had pictures that on closer inspection (we were told) they were hair arranged, braided, twisted and sewn to look like flowers. it was some what creepy but very sweet too. different shades of hair for different parts.
we have our sons hair, hospital bands, and other trinkets in a cookie jar that his grandmother gave us before she passed away. it matches with his antique toy decorated room!
