Furniture that's intended for use in the nursery is sure to see its fair share of spills and messes. Jennifer had her eye on a white ultrasuede Nurseryworks rocker. But when the orange cloth model went on sale for half off, she just couldn't resist. To help keep stains at bay and protect her investment, she had a fabulous slip cover made. See the results after the jump!
Jennifer had friend, Steph, stitch up this perfect fit slip cover for her new orange treasure. It unzips, is machine washable and is ready to combat anything that comes it's way! Plus, the added pattern gives it a bit of versatility as to where it can be used in the home, throughout the life of the piece.
Nice work Steph and Jennifer! The hard work paid off, it looks amazing!

Thank God they covered up the sphincter or navel or whatever that indentation was. It looked Evil. Intriguing, but Evil and probably up to no good.
The slipcover is pretty.

I like that the button hole or whatever you call it is gone but I think it would look better if you could see the details in the arms.

The fabric is a home dec weight by Alexander Henry called Zinnia.

I like the detail of the chair before but think the practicality of the after is clever and cute for a nursery.

thanks everybody!
rosenatti: you're so right, that indentation IS evil -- it's where all the spills and messes would pool up pre-slipcover -- so hard to clean out. beware, nurseryworks shoppers!
lyndsea: no worries -- the original is still intact, waiting out my twins' babyhood until it's safe to come out from under the cover.
steph still has the sewing pattern she made for the rocker (it's actually the sleepytime, not the storytime) -- if anyone wants to send her any queries, contact me through my blog and i can put you in touch...

That looks really good. I have the ecru (white) microfiber version of the chair. I loved the orange, but I want the chair to last well after my baby is no longer a baby, so I got the ecru because I thought I could later fit it into any room in the house. It cleans off pretty well, but babies do stain things--I should make one of those slipcovers.
And I haven't had any problems with the indentation. Most of our stains seem to be on the arms. The only weird thing about my chair is that when you sit on it in jeans (or anything similar), you leave behind a perfect image of your jean-clad butt when you get up. It's the slight nap of the microfiber.

Is your wall color green or gray? I loved it in the first picture, then realized it might actually be green (not gray) in the second.

I like this fabric, in fact, I have a nursing cover in the same print. But I also am totally into orange right now and I love the before. Thinking of doing my baby's room in oranges when we move to our new house.
