Over at Wired Magazines, Geek Dad weblog, we ran across this great list of movies for younger kids to watch on Halloween. We agreed with the list so much, it even made us add a few more things to our Netflix queue. Yeah, the Monster Squad is rated PG-13.
On the other hand, we love the movie "The Witches", based on a story by Roald Dahl and starring Angelica Huston. It's a bit creepy, but it's rated PG and my 5-year-old found it fascinating and not too scary.

I LOVED Monster Squad as a pre-teen teen, but it definitely has scary elements. I'd recommend it only for age 11 or so and up.
