We've been thinking about making a family portrait for the holidays and while there's nothing wrong with the traditional studio portraits at places like JC Penney and Target, we'd like to do something a bit different. Our gears were turning again this morning when we spotted the family photography of Akihiro Futura on Swiss Miss's blog.

i LOVE the top one. We haven't taken a family portrait in 16 years and really the whole sears thing is pretty meh. I want a quirky picture like that, but it's going to be hard capturing it without it feeling forced - at least for me.

How great would these be on Holiday cards?!

That is so cool! WHile I wouldn't want it to be THE family photograph, it would be great for Christmas cards or just for something fun. Great idea!

I love these because they actually look like they are enjoying themselves. Most family photos look forced to me, but I do not mean all family photos.

we take family pictures at Thanksgiving and we always do the "nice" picture, but then we also do a "silly" picture and that one is always my favorite and this year it is going on the front of our Christmas card. The picture is always on the same double rocking chair taken outside so it really shows how our kids and family has grown.
