Growing up we had a thing for rocks. We have already professed our love for birds, bur our love for rocks goes far beyond that. We used to spend hours upon hours digging up rocks for fossils, projects or just because. So needless to say, this great roundup of rock animals from Martha Stewart totally piqued our interest!

Getting Crafty Using Rocks
Creating these little creatures really is as simple as painting, gluing and enjoying!
Martha has step by step instructions over at her site, some of which are well worth taking a look at. For instance, we never would have thought about propping up the rocks while the glue is drying with little pieces of non-hardening clay. Or using popsicle sticks for extra support!
Magnets can be attached to the back to transform your creations into refrigerator worthy note holders. The sky is the limit when it comes to rock painting, create an entire scene or just one animal, either way, it's sure to be a hit! Plus, chances are you can come across rocks with little effort (and zero cost) and already have a few tubes of paint stashed away somewhere!
