When you have kids, doing something unexpected can really get them excited. We saw this idea of installing a trap door leading to a small play area over at Nesting blog.

In addition to connecting a bedroom to a play area, this would be a great way to connect siblings' bedrooms. Sure, they can use the regular doorway, but this is a "secret" passageway!

oh this would have been so neat for me and my brothers growing up. the kids closets connect we could totally do this for them!
