Hang Kids' Art from a Curtain Rod

2008-09-dignitet.jpg

We love walking into someone's home and seeing their kids' artwork proudly displayed. The idea pictured above is particularly clever because the hanging clips make adding and swapping art a snap. It also allow this family to showcase a lot of drawings and paintings (one row for each child perhaps?) while still looking organized and uncluttered.

The mechanism used is actually a 3-part Ikea curtain wire system called Dignitet which consists of the wire rod ($15), corner pieces (2 x $5) and the curtain ring clips ($5) for a total of $30. Has anyone seen a similar product for folks who don't live near Ikea?

LOVE this idea! my desk has a glass top on it so i've been slipping artwork under there, but this is such a more fun way to display it and be able to change it out. cant wait to get to ikea!

very cute idea, much more presentable than my mess of kid artwork on my fridge (that falls off constantly!) and i'm sure kids love having a special spot just to display and change out their work!

jcpenny has a cable rod http://tinyurl.com/ofa52b

so does pbteen http://tinyurl.com/qspht6 (and pottery barn does too, but its more $$ that pbteen)

I'm more of a fan of Li'l Da Vinci art cabinets.

I have something similar. It is great for drying freshly painted creations as well as displaying.

I have the same kind of thing, although mine is a little more cheaply done, a few 3m hooks (the joys of renting), some jute string and wooden pegs, which i use for hanging my laundry to dry

I love this. As soon as my one-year-old stops being tempted to rip my four-year-old's low-hanging art off the walls/fridge/etc, I am totally doing this.

I really love this idea - will have it in mind once my son is old enough to start crafting ;-)

We bought ours off ebay for about $9, shipped. Had the darndest time getting it in the wall and had to rip it out because we forgot that it does not follow a right tighty, lefty loosey installation. I'd love many more.

great idea!! i personally hate hanging art on the fridge...it falls off, my dogs sneeze on it, etc. this would make a much nicer display spot.

I have this system above my desk! I love it, a great way to hold up reminders and to-do lists. I use the hooks to hang some necklaces/bracelets.

I also have 3M hooks (I use the kind that are meant to clip cords out of the way, since they are small and low profile) and stretched some beautiful yarn between them, and I use some small wooden clothes pins from the craft store, as well as some cute penguin magnetic bookmarks that work really well.
