My decorating used to be very thematic and everything matched from the tree, to the cards, to the gifts, to the tags... and now we have kids! And our decorating is based completely on what they create... and do they create! Now that they are older its not all toilet rolls covered in glitter, it has become really creative and it is fun to see what they come up with - Also, no work for me!

Our tree is dominated by my husband's ornaments. My mother-in-law has given each of their 4 children an ornament for every Christmas. I asked him what he is going to do in a few years when our little one accumulates some ornaments of his own. He suggested what his family has done. Each year one of the kids gets to decorate a smaller tree with their ornaments. They trade off every year so it teaches them about sharing, although my youngest sister-in-law has dominated the tree since everyone else got into high school.

We actually just completed trimming our tree tonight. It has shades of red and gold with orange tones. Just my personal preference. Everything was store bought but I wish I had time to allow my kids to share in the task. Maybe when they get a bit older... :)
