Mother's Day Fantasy Wishlist

2009-5-6-card.jpg

Now that we're a mom, we have to chuckle when we think back on all the off-the-mark gifts we've given our own mother for Mother's Day over the years - perfume, fancy soaps, books of flowery poetry - you get the picture. Of course they were always graciously received, but we have a better idea now of what would truly be a gift. For starters - the day off. Some moms want to spend the day with their family, but we'd prefer to spend it alone in a movie theater or reading in the park. What's your fantasy Mother's Day?

Here, we'll get started with our own fantasy wishlist and you can add yours in the comments:

  • Seven hours of continuous sleep. Wait, this is our fantasty list - make that nine.
  • Something new to wear that we pick out ourselves.
  • An uninterrupted hour in the bathroom to take a leisurely shower (ooh, maybe even shave our legs), moisturize, floss, apply toe polish and all those other hygienic luxuries that have gone out the window this year.
  • A picnic of wine, cheese, fruit and chocolate under the shade of a willow tree in the park followed by reading one of those novels gathering dust on our shelf and then a nap.
  • A candlelight dinner with...our best friend. (We see our husband plenty.)

Your turn...

I'd much rather spend Mother's Day hanging out with my son, rather than doing something by myself (or with a friend). If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be a mother!!

We are going to walk around the boardwalk with chocolate croissants and coffee with my son, of coarse. But when we get home, I would love a bath until the water turns cold like the good old days!

I would like my husband to get up with the kids, and change their diapers and get them dressed and feed them breakfast. While I sleep and then shower and perhaps shave my legs.

After that, I want to go to brunch at a restaurant where I won't feel stressed because of having three 17 month olds yelling and throwing pancakes on the ground. So, IHOP, it is!

And then, I will get to take a nap (and the boys will nap as well) and afterwards, we might go for a walk to go hang out with some friends. And my husband will give me a gift certificate to a spa for a massage. But for another day.

And THEN, he will feed them dinner and get them ready for bed, while I sit on the sofa and read a book. And then a babysitter will come over and we will go to a movie (of my choice) and eat popcorn. With butter. And Milk Duds.

Okay, so maybe I'll actually get the IHOP part.

A afternoon/night by myself in a fancy hotel. Or really any hotel with a bathtub and room service!
