Oona's Colorful Family Bed

oona_familybed1.jpg

As we begin to wrap up our color theme this month, AT reader Keely sends us photos of her daughter's bedroom to share with everyone.

Oona (arriving in February) will be partaking of the family bed and
of their room Keely says, "We used color as the primary influence to make this room feel like a nursery, as we didn't want to spend a lot of money on furniture that would only be used for a short time, and which Oona might not even like. So instead of a crib, we are co-sleeping. Instead of a changing table, we will sit on the floor or the bed to change diapers."

Keely adds, "When she comes of crawling age we plan to turn the nursery into a Montessori-influenced room with the mattress on the floor and lower everything to child-friendly exploring height...We chose blue, green and white for the colors because we wanted something that was whimsical and friendly for Oona, but would still feel comfortable for our guests."

Thanks for sharing, Keely!

Good for you all! This is the most practical I have seen in a long time: it is true, there is no guarantee that a baby will take to a crib. And a bed or the floor is as good a place as any to change a diaper. And furthermore the room is just lovely. I love the rug especially, that will be a wonderful visual for tummy-time!

The title of this post totally confused me... I had to read it through a couple of times to figure it out... This is *not* a picture of the colourful family bed (this looks like a single bed to me, so I kept wondering how they could all fit), but rather, the room that will eventually be Oona's once she crawls, but is now used as a guestroom (the mention of quests had me scratching my head..."huh? they invite quests to hang out in the bedroom", until it hit me). Confusing.
