While attending Allie's Birthday Party this past weekend we picked up on a small tip that made life much easier when it came to desserts and the organization of a large group of people. Color coordinating (and tasty) cupcakes were served, but the hostess had a great serving method when the time came. See what it was and check out the birthday girl's cake after the jump!
Although Allie had a cake all to herself (lucky girl!), cupcakes were served to all who were in attendance. Cupcakes aren't out of the ordinary, but what made them a great choice for this large gathering of people, was their ability to move.

The cupcakes were stacked on ceramic pedestals in several tall towers. After a round of Happy Birthday, each tier was taken to different ends of each table. It allowed guests to continue to watch the birthday girl as she put her feet in cake and then migrated to opening presents. No one had to get up to wait in line for their dessert, it was all right there in front of us. As an added bonus, it meant no extra napkins or plates were required and all the little one's in attendance stayed still!

i wish i served cupcakes at my sons 1st b-day. we have a small kitchen which was stocked with the party food so i had hardly any space to cut and serve the huge cake for the large party... there were about 20 people there... and the kids were impatient. i was doing that while my son was digging into his little personal cake which i would have loved to focus on!
next year its cute cupcakes for sure!
